the last thing i remember before i went to china was school, exams and getmeoutofhereiwanttogohomerightnowbecauseithinki'mdying.

i had to say goodbye yesterday. the first time in like a year. it was so weird. so as i drove my friend home and pulled into her driveway, i put the car on park, gave her a hug and said our "obligatory" goodbyes. at the end she was like, "i'll see you at christmas?" and of course i was like, "yeah yeah, for sure!" but in my heart i was thinking, what?? 4 months. christmas. so far. and the worst part is the she goes to mcgill so it's not like she's even coming back before then. i don't know why this goodbye hit me so hard, they usually don't....but maybe it's the wow i'm not going to be seeing you for a long time so during the time that i did get a chance to see you did i leave with you something that is worth remembering or leave any sort of imprint that brought you one step closer to you meeting my father. i hope so. i really hope so.

oh hawaii...how i miss you

darn. i can't spell. i really hope i spelt honolulu right. if not, someone please yell at me.
so i was bored today, and decided to check my email, write a friend back (since i am notorious for replying emails) and i checked out her blog...just cuz i never saw it and i told her i would check it and whatnot just to keep up with whatever she's doing and stay in touch. yes, i know i have no friends, so i need to make an effort to keep them.

anyways, as i read her blog, i noticed a blurb about me & her. wOOt! i made it onto some else's blog! (yes, i have friends!)...when i read it, it was like i went back in time and we were still in honolulu and honestly, she portrayed the moment so perfectly, i couldn't explain it better, but then again i have the english skills of a 5 year old. so, here's what she had to say...
"After the outreach we had a layover in Honolulu for a day. So, we spent the whole day.....luggage and all....at the beach! It was WONDERFUL! The weather was warm with cool winds and the water was perfect! As our time together was coming to a close, my friend and I sat on a $1 mat facing the ocean while the sun was setting. The water was a silverish grey and sparkled where the sun hit it. We talked about the trip and reflected on everything that God had done! For about 15 min, we sat in silence, then a thought struck us both. Looking out across the sea, as far as the eye could see. We wondered how the God of the universe could create us. Something so small, yet so valuable. To think how small we were comparred to the ocean, I mean, were like a grain of sand on the beach. Yet God loves us more than that sand, and thinks about us constantly. That is true, genuine love! Sitting there together and just getting a glimpse of Heaven....was the best part of the whole outreach. A time of peace, a time of joy, and time of reflection!"
yup, there's definately something about hawaii & beaches. i always have revelations when i'm sitting at a beach, with water...wait, all beaches have water. oh gosh. i think all that pollution in china killed my brain. anyway, that's besides the point, point is....go sit on a beach, it will change your life.

unexplainable.

well, i guess this is my obligatory post about my missions trip to china/mongolia. i'm finding myself at a loss of words to describe the majesty and wonder of our God and for the things He has done. i can't explain it, but if i were asked to, i would point you to the story of Jesus feeding the five thousand.

going on this trip, it was like me & all of my teamates each held a fish or a piece of bread in our hands. something small, insignificant, unimportant to the real world. Whether it be a story, an experience, a broken heart or the desire to be challenged, it didn't matter. We all held something small in our hearts, and it was only a matter of the right timing to release those things into the hands of our Saviour.

and what we saw were miracles. smiles shone and laughter was everpresent. children were given joy. eyes lit up and faces became radiant. people heard for the first time the love that had so radically changed us. healing was poured out. visions were cast out onto followers as we prayed. hearts were inspired, and answers received.
the little gifts that we each possessed was made into an incredible blessing far greater than we ever imagined. that, my friends, is the power by the grace of God.
