a time for everything
1 To everything there is a season,
A time for every purpose under heaven:
2 A time to be born,
And a time to die;
A time to plant,
And a time to pluck what is planted;
3 A time to kill,
And a time to heal;
A time to break down,
And a time to build up;
4 A time to weep,
And a time to laugh;
A time to mourn,
And a time to dance;
5 A time to cast away stones,
And a time to gather stones;
A time to embrace,
And a time to refrain from embracing;
6 A time to gain,
And a time to lose;
A time to keep,
And a time to throw away;
7 A time to tear,
And a time to sew;
A time to keep silence,
And a time to speak;
8 A time to love,
And a time to hate;
A time of war,
And a time of peace.
A time for every purpose under heaven:
2 A time to be born,
And a time to die;
A time to plant,
And a time to pluck what is planted;
3 A time to kill,
And a time to heal;
A time to break down,
And a time to build up;
4 A time to weep,
And a time to laugh;
A time to mourn,
And a time to dance;
5 A time to cast away stones,
And a time to gather stones;
A time to embrace,
And a time to refrain from embracing;
6 A time to gain,
And a time to lose;
A time to keep,
And a time to throw away;
7 A time to tear,
And a time to sew;
A time to keep silence,
And a time to speak;
8 A time to love,
And a time to hate;
A time of war,
And a time of peace.

"The people that make a durable difference in the world are not the people who have mastered many things, but who have been mastered by one great thing" (john piper, don't waste your life)

so my sister pointed out to me today the funniest line not only in macbeth, but in all of shakespeare.
Old man: 'Tis said they eat each other (Act II, scene 4, 22).
(context: unnatural events that occurred on the night of Duncan's murder. "they" refers to horses)

4 months in review
so it's been a month...a month of craziness and hibernation, ups and downs, encouragement and discouragement. in other words, every possible emotion out there...which i am way too lazy to list out...anyway....
home. oh home. i miss u so much. and i'm so lucky to be spoiled for 3 weeks before i go leave. longest time since...august...which seemed like ages ago. i'm looking back over the first semester of my 2nd year of university and all i can say right now is - wow. so much has changed, so much has happened....i wish i could capture it all for you, but obviously my english and communicating skills are both quite below average, so i won't even try to do that one...but i'll do my best.
september. what? did that month exist? evidently so. in my mind, 30 days seemed like 1 big huge day that was filled with countless blessings and..wow, "my God is so good" moments. i treasured every single bit of september. because there was absolutely no studying and all catching up w/ppl and learning a billion things.
october. thanksgiving means food. food means mich is happy. end of story.
november. trying to compose myself after midterms. darn, those stupid exams really did some messed up crap to me. anywhere from not enough sleep to spazing at everything that went wrong to messed up priorities. next thing i knew, there were no more classes.
december. i hate exams for what it does to ppl....for the limitation on time it puts on me and the energy it withdraws from my already sleep deprived pushed to the max body. but i must say, this set of exams were one of the best i have ever written...i have never been more thankful and come out of each one knowing that i did my best and confident that i had studied the right material. marks, however, will probably tell a different story...but all that overwhelms me right now is "thank you so much God, for carrying me through"...and perhaps the answer lies in the fact that during this set of exams, i made a committment to not study or go into any exam until i had spent time with the Lord where He could take me and do anything He wanted and i refused to go into any exam without praying. I guess i've learned the hard way that there is no point to doing anything unless it is completely surrendered and school takes its rightful place in my life.
If you were to ask me what I remember most about this semester, without a doubt, i would tell you about all those nights that I stayed up late praying... How i would close my eyes at like12 and open them at like 2 in the morning...when i swear i only prayed for like 10 minutes. there's something so special about pouring out your heart and placing it before the throne of grace, knowing that He hears every single cry...and watching the little things slowly fall in place continues to blow my mind every day.
Malachi 3:10 - "test me in this," says the Lord Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it."
so now i wait in anticipation of a flood of miracles for next semester. i can't wait.
